In the Paleo period the native americans lived and prosphered. They lived within the 12000bc time period. They used large spear heads to hunt large animals such as mamonths and bison. They also gatherd nut and berries. -

Hernando deSoto explores Georgia
Hernando de Soto came to Georgia for gold. Natives there were affected by diesease that leveled there population. de Soto killed and enslaved most of the surviveing natives. He traveld through afnd out of georgia and eventually died in louisiana never finding gold. -
highland scots arive
james ogethorpe brought in the highland scots to protect the carolinas from the spanish in florida. they were chosen because of their big size and fear of nothing. they were strong and were at the border of florida. -

austin dabney, elijah clarke, and the battle of kettle creek
elijah clarke was a collnel that fought in the battle of kettle creek. he led that battle. austin dabney was the first black man to fight in the revolution. he too fought in the battle of kettle creek. the battle of kettle creek was the first victory of georgia. -

this is the first state suported university of america. was built in athens. abraham baldwin was the first president of the university. anybody in georgia had free intuition to the university of georgia. -
invention of cotton gin
this inveention made it easier to seperate seeds from the cotton.
it originaly took hundreads of ours to seperate the seeds but now it takes a day to produce 50 lbs of cotton. -
yazoo land fraud
the governor and legislature was bribed to pass a law allowing four land companies to illegaly buy land at a cheap price. the land easnt thiers to sell. in total 50billion acers were sold for $50000. the papers of the faud were burned afterwards. -
louisvile set as capital of georgia
savanna and aousta were the fist two capitals. they changed the capital to move it to a more centrally located geographicaly and population wise. -

andersonville
andersonville was a prison for POWs. POWs are Prisoners of War. the prisoners had very little food and needed to make there own shelter. they mostly died of diesease if not of hunger or being killed by gaurds or other prisoners. -
Mayor Hartsfield
Hartsfield served as mayor in six terms. he served longer than any one in history of Atlanta. He served 1937-41, 1942-61. He served during a critical time when races were being intergrated and the population went from 100,000 to 1 million.
