    Pong was manufactured by Atari and was one of the first arcade games. Home Pong was released as a way for people to play Pong without going to the arcade. Over 35,000 were sold over the years at $99 a piece.

    This was the world's first CPU-based game console and introduced the cartridge into consoles. This sold for $169.95 in 1976 and '77.
  • Atari 2600

    Atari 2600
    Widely known, this is the most popular of the early game consoles. It popularized the microprocessor and ROMs, selling 30 million units as of 2004.

    The SG-1000 was SEGA's first home video game system. It was released in Japan and Australia. Since it was released at the same time as the NES it wasn't very successful.
