    Agricultural
Hunter-Gatherer communities started to stay in one location because of a sustainable and abundant food soure. A marital system was established because a male needed to take care of his off-springs until they would become self-sufficient. Children would help out with the farm. Families would arrange marriages at a young age so that they could start having children from an early age. Females were considered as property of their husband. Most families were polygomous
  • Pre-industrial

    Pre-industrial
Marriage became an economic necessity because there were no jobs for women. It was hard to sustain a family, so monogomy and less children became more traditional, so that it would be easier to support children.
  • Urban Industrial

    Urban Industrial
Most men would work at a factory to earn a wage that would allow them to support their family. This was not limited to only men, because women and children would work in a wage-based labour force, but women were payed one-third of the wage that men were payed, because at that time, it was believed that women were a threat to the role of men as the sole provider of a family. For children who were able to go to school, there was no work until they had finished their education. Monogomous, few kids

    Contemprary Canadian
Roles of men and women are equally divided in providing for and supporting their children. Although 50% of marriages are ended in divorce, most couples marry before having children. Men and women have an equal chance at economic prosperity because the work force will provide a job to anybody as long as they are qualified for the job.
  • Family of the Future

    Family of the Future
Families are very disconnected from one another. Most families are very technologically dependent, and use it to communicate with one another. What I mean by this is that family members will send text messages to one another when they are just one room away from one another. Women will most likely dominate the work force, because 71% of working women have a bigger income than men. Marriage may not be a big factor, because in today's world teenage pregnancy is something that is becoming apparent.
