    She was the first MIT woman graduate. Her focus was chemistry and how to help improve health. She was an advocate for women and made it possible for women to pursue careers in the science area.

    W.O Atwater
    Invented the Bomb Calorimeter. He was considered the "Father of Nutrition" He went to Yale where he received his PhD in 1869.

    The Morrill Act known as Land-Grant College Act, provided funds to states to support new Land-Grant colleges and universities. These colleges taught business, home economics, engineering, and agriculture. This Act was founded by Justin Smith Morrill, although he never went to college, he was a successful businessman. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate
