Brown V. Board of Education
A man named Oliver Brown sued the Board of Education in Kansas after his daughter was denied entrance into a Topeka school. The Head Start Program
One of the ways that President Lyndon B. Johnson’s dealt with the ‘War on Poverty,’ was The Head Start Program. It began as a Summer program by the Office of Economic Opportunity. Diana V. State Board of Education
In this case a group of students who only spoke Spanish were placed in EMR classes based on an assessment given to them in English. This case enacted a law where no child will be placed in special education because of an inability to speak English. -

Individuals With Disabilities Education Act
This act is the federal law that helps with special education and related service programming for children with disabilities. The Standards Movement
After the Nation at Risk Report came out, state governors became very concerned about the jobs that were being lost, and business leaders began to realize that educated people were vital to the future. This movement set standards for what students should know at a certain grade level. -
