    Pre-Historic

    These were the first recordings of man and how they expressed themselves.
  • Period: 3000 BCE to 332 BCE

    Ancient Egypt

    Egypt in the early 3,000 BC made art to worship their gods and to carve scenes that happened in history. They used a flat, linear style of art.
  • Period: 900 BCE to 600 BCE

    Ancient Greece

    While Ancient Egypt was in the middle of creating history, Ancient Greece was making ever-lasting artifacts in their pottery that still exist today. They made battle scenes, and/or ways of them living.
  • Period: 400 to 1400

    Middle Ages

    For A couple hundred years in the 400s, Monks, and priests used to depict stories of the Bible for the royals and wealthy families on wood or animal hides. Because it was for royalty, commoners weren't able to see the art.
  • Period: 618 to 907

    Ink Wash

    In China, during the Tang dynasty, artists such as Wang Wei, and Zhang Zao, invented a new way to make art. Where they used water to dilute their ink paintings to capture the spirit of their art.

    The Renaissance

    This was a time of artists in Italy to create masterpieces that we all know and love to this day, like the Mona Lisa, Michelangelo's David, and The Birth of Venus.

    The Baroque Period

    Artists in this time came up with new ways to create their art, using water color. A paint that used water instead of oil.
  • Period: to

    The 1800s

    During this time artists started to make different tools to help them with their art, and they invented the pencil. And artists like Van Gogh, made art that people adore to this day.

    The 1900s

    Art during this time took a turn, instead of making pieces that looked realistic, people decided to make art that required no skill. Like Picasso and his art.

    Present Day

    We now move onto present day art, now instead of using paper to create art, artists have moved on to using computers to create art.
