The steam power came to be by a man named Ernest Michaux. It was the first steam powered velocipede which was a small engine that fit onto one of the velocipedes. -
The first motorcyle
The first petroleum fueled motorcycle was the Petroleum Reitwagen. It was later recongized as the first motorcyle which was made in 1885 by two men, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. -
Harley Davidson come out with Motorcycles
In 1901, a man named William Harley draws a plan for a small engine. The engine he designed was made for a regular pedal frame. The motorcycle was finish by William and his childhood friend Arthur Davidson in 1903 with the help of Arthurs brother, Walter Davidson. They labored on their motor-bicycle using a machine shop. -
The first Moped
A moped is slower than a motorcyle. Mopeds occasionally resemble powered bicycles, but most are now step through designs and step-over designs which is similar to a regular motorcycle. They were made for safe transport and there are lisensing requirements to have ride one. Mopeds are typically restricted to 50 km/h and have a maximum 49cc engine. -

The first race wasnt known as a "motorcross" race, it was known as the Southern Scott Scramble. It was over 2.5 miles and was a cross country race held in Camberly Heath, England. -

KTM makes motorcycles
KTM started as a metal working shop which was named Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen which is what KTM stood for. They had 20 employees providing up to three motorcycles per day. The company was renamed when a man by the name of Ernst Kronreif, This man then renamed the company to Kronreif & Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. -
Kawasaki starts making motorcycles
In 1956 the Meihatsu 125 Deluxe debuted.
1957 marked the production of the improved version of the KB-5 engine, the KB-5A. This was also the first year the "Kawasaki" logo was stamped into the engine side cover. -
Honda comes out with motorcycles
Honda is known as the largest manufacture in Japan ever since it started in 1955. They have also been known as the world's largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines measured by volume, producing more than 14 million internal combustion engines each year.
At their peak in 1982 Honda was manufacturing 3 million motorcycles annually. During the 1960s, when it was a small manufacturer, Honda broke out of the Japanese motorcycle market and began selling to the U.S.
