John Dight
John Dight purchased Melbourne block 88, this included 26 acres of land along the Yarra river for 481 euros. -

John Dight had a business in flour milling, he notified his customer he was leaving through the Sydney Herald. -
The first steam powered flour mill was constructed
The The first steam powered flour mill was constructed was constructed in Melbourne.
John Dight build his water powered mill soon after the first steam powered mill was constructed. -
Dight Family abandon flour mill and was sold to Edwin Treenery
The Dight Family abandoned their flour mill in 1864 and sold it to Edwin Treenery in 1878. -

New flour mill (bulidings) built and sold
The mill race was rebuilt in the same position using
bluestone blocks from Dight’s old mill building, and a new mill
and other buildings were constructed. These buildings were
sold in 1891 to the Melbourne Flour Milling Company. -
Changing the mill owners (again)
The mill owners for a final time before it was burnt by fire. The mill ruins of the mill can still be found at Dights Falls to this day. -

More reconstruction occurred after heavy rainfall.
Most of the timber decking, walings and rock fill had washed
away or were damaged (to damaged to repair) during this flood. -

to fish migration there was a rock fishway was constructed to allow fish to move around the weir.
