Two men from Iowa State created a 16 bit calculator out of tubes. I chose this, because it calculated numbers by its own.

First Electronic Computer

This is when the first electronic computer came out in the US, UK, and Germany. I used this, because it was the first release of the electronic computer.

Manchester Mark 1

Mar 21, 1948

Freddie C. Williams and his team at Manchester University completed a prototype machine named the Manchester Mark 1. I chose this because this was a major starting point for computers.

EDVAC Completion

Mar 21, 1952

It was completed with 4000 tubes, 10,000 crystal diodes, and 1024 44-bit words of ultrasonic memory. It also has a clock speed of 1 mhz. I chose this because it was a big project that was completed sucessfuly.

First Industrial Robot

The first industrial robot was created at this time. They were basic robots, but they were a big deal. I chose this because I'm interested in robots.

First Floppy Disk

In 1967 the first floppy disk was created by IBM. It was a big sucess and they sold a lot of them. I chose this, because it started secondary memory.

Email!

Mar 22, 1972

Ray Tomlinson, author of first email software, chooses @ sign for email addresses. Bill Gates and Paul Allen form Traf-O-Data, and that ends up becoming microsoft in the future. I think this is cool, because it's the start of communicating online.

Computer Attack!

Companies such as Apple, IBM, DEC, HP, XEROX, all release their own computers. I found this interesting, because this is the time where a bunch of computer came out for sale.

Start of great computers

This year, Microsoft completed the Windows 1.01. It was a big hit, and you could do a lot on it. This computer was in a lot of business buildings, and used by a lot of people. You could also download free online games such as astroids. I found this interesting because this was the start of great computers.

Internet Explorer

This year, Microsoft relaesed the Windows 95. With this computer, came the internet explorer. This is the computer that started google, websites, online gaming, etc. I found this interesting because many of the stuff on computers today origniated from the Windows 95.
