    Osborne 1
    Adam Osborne completed the first portable computer, the Osborne I, which weighed 24 pounds and cost $1,795. The price made the machine especially attractive, as it included software worth about $1,500. The machine featured a 5-inch display, 64 kilobytes of memory, a modem, and two 5 1/4-inch floppy disk drives. The reason I chose this is because this this was the first portable computer.

    Amiga 1000 with Seiko Music Keyboard
    The Amiga 1000 is released. Commodore’s Amiga 1000 sold for $1,295 dollars (without monitor) and had audio and video capabilities beyond those found in most others. It developed a very loyal following and add-on components allowed it to be upgraded easily. The inside of the case is engraved with the signatures of the Amiga designers, including Jay Miner as well as the paw print of his dog Mitchy. The reason I chose this is because this was the first computer with audio and video.

    Intel released the 80486 microprocessor and the i860 RISC/coprocessor chip, each of which contained more than 1 million transistors. The reason I chose this is because it was the first intel CPU.

    Mosaic Browser
    Mosaic was the first commercial software that allowed graphical access to content on the internet. Designed by Eric Bina and Marc Andreessen at the University of Illinois’s National Center for Supercomputer Applications. The reason I chose this is because this was the first commercial software that was graphical.

    Google
    Google is founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page on September 7, 1998. The reason I chose this is because it seemed interesting to find out what Google looked like and when it was invented.
  • XBox

    XBox
    Bill Gates introduces the XBox on January 7, 2001. The reason I chose this event, was because the first XBox seemed like a cool subject to research, also because it was cool to see when it was invented and by who.
