    The Great Fire of Rome was a fire that began in the merchant shops around Circus Maximus. In the aftermath of the fire over two thirds of Rome had been destroyed. Emperor Nero blamed the fire on the Christians in the city which caused the first persecution against the Christians.

    Battle of Milvian Bridge

    The Battle of Milvian Bridge took place between the Roman Emperors Constantine I and Maxentius. The battle was won by Constantine because he had a vision that he was told to put a specific symbol on his shield that would make him and his army victorious. The battle marked the beginning of Constantine's conversion to Christianity.

    The Edict of Milan was a letter signed by the Roman emperors which stopped the persecution of Christians. With the Edict of Milan there began a period of when Constantine granted favors to the members of the Christians. The exact words to the edict are unknown.

    Theodosius’ Reign

    During Theodosius' Reign he was the last emperor to rule over the Eastern and Western halves of the Roman Empire. The impact he had on Christianity is significant. After he himself converted to Christianity and stopped the persecutions of Christians he made Christianity the official religion of Rome.
