Cambodia won the independence back from France. Under the rule of king Sihanouk its the Kingdom of Cambodia. -

King Sihanouk abdicated so he could follow a life of political career. His father then becomes the king and Sihanouk becomes a prime minister. Sadly the father of Sihanouk dies, Sihanouk get of all the state. Sihanouk for some reason stops having to do with the U.S and then lets Vietnamese guerrillas to set of camp in Cambodia. -

The U.S has a plan to set up a secret bombing campaign against the North Vietnamese group on Cambodia land. Prime minister Lon Nol, orders Khmer republic to send the army to fight against north Vietnamese on Cambodia land. -

The country is renamed again this time its democratic kampuchea. Sihanouk quit. Don’t you worry Khieu Samphan becomes hard of the state. Pol pot is the new prime minster. Lots of battle with Vietnam. The Vietnamese soon invade in a fast assault. Vietnam kidnaps Phnom Penh, also Pol Pot the Khmer Rouge group takes off to the border of Thailand.They soon get a new government but the international community doesn’t want to recognize the new Government.This new guy become prim minster.1975-1985 -

Cambodia starts to get sick because of the guerrilla warfare. lots of people in Cambodia have to flee their homes they become refugees. They singed a peace agreement with Paris. They got a UN transitional authority. They share the power temporarily with the people of different factions in Cambodia. The Royalist party wins for the most seats followed by Huns Sen’s people party’s. They restore the monarchy, Sihanouk becomes kings again because he cant make up his mind. They renamed their country the kingdom of Cambodia. They just cant make there mind up on anything. Thousand of poeple surrender. Leader Khmer Rouge forms new party -

Khmer Rouge Put Pol Ppt on trial then sentence him life of imprisonment. Pol Pot died in his hideout located in the jingle in 199. Prince Ranariddh was found of arms smuggling, then pardoned by the king. There was a law sort up to make charges against Khmer Rouge is passed. Poeple across the world were donating and encouraging by the reform efforts. The plate was 560$ million in aid. The U.S based Cambodia for their freedom fighters. They were convicted for the 200 attack in Phnom Penh. -

They wanted to overthrow Hun Sen. the very first bridge was built across the Mekong river. It opens to east and west of Cambodia. The first multi party local elections wins in all. 23 of out 1,620 communes. Some drama accrues with Thailand. -

Hun Sen re-Elected
After almost year prime minster Hun Sen is re-elected. Leader Sam Rainey goes abroad after the parliment punishes him of immunity from prosecution, this is leaving hime open to defamation of charges that were brought by the ruling coalition. Khmer Rouge finally get the ok from the UN after many year of debate about the funding. Rainey is later convicted for absentia for defaming. Hun Sen is sentenced to 18 months in prison. Lucky for Rainey he receives a royal pardon and he gets to go home. -

The parliament soon agrees to banshies the terms of defamation for prison. Ta Mok, is of the very top leaders for Khmer Rouge regime, he sadly dies at the age of 80 year old. A Junior partner in a case of ruling coalition, and he drop The prince Norodom Ranariddh that was its leader. -

Ranariddh is sentenced to 18 months I prison because he sold the Funcinpec Party's headquarters , he denies the charge. The UN backed tribunals that begin to question Khmer Rouge suspects that his allegations of genocide. almost all of the surging Khmer Rouge members, Nuon Chea- in other words" bother Number Two" they get arrested and charges with crimes of humanity. The US court convicts the CFF leader chin Lasith because he masterminded the 2000 attack in Phnom Penh. -
