Magic Lantern
The magic lantern or laterna magica is an early type of image projector employing painted pictures or photographs on sheets of glass, a lens and a bright light source.It became a common medium for educational purposes around 1800 until it was succeeded by slide projectors in the 1950s.Christiaan Huygens, the famous French/Dutch scientist, is nowadays widely accepted as the true inventor of the magic lantern.

Flipbook
John Barnes Linnett patented the first American flip book in 1868. A flip book is a small book with pages, each having one in a series of animation images. The user bends all of the pages back, normally with the thumb, then by a gradual motion of the hand allows them to spring free one at a time. The illusion of motion is created by the apparent sudden replacement of each image by the next in the series

American animated short film directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. It was produced in black-and-white by Walt Disney Studios and was released by Celebrity Productions. The cartoon is considered the debut of Mickey Mouse and his girlfriend Minnie. Steamboat Willie is especially notable for being the first Disney cartoon with synchronized sound, including character sounds and a musical score.

An American animated series of comedy short films.
