A machine to see a combined image (Persistence of vision) A disk with a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. Praxinoscope
The praxinoscope was invented in France on 1877 by Charles-Emile Reynaud and it was the first prototype to show an animated cartoons in animation. Humorous Phases of Funny Faces
This stop motion animation was created by James Stuart Blackton in 1906 and was a very important part in animation's history in that it was the first animated film recorded on standard picture film.
