  • Start of a Revolution

    Mahatma Gandhi is thrown off a train for refusing to move from his First Class seat to Third Class, even though he validly bought the ticket. This personal discrimination gave Gandhi the resolve to fight against racial discrimination.
  • Act

    In Duran Harbor, South Africa, Gandhi is beaten by a mob of white settlers. His life was saved when the wife of the Durban Police Chief stand between Gandhi & the attackers. Because of media attention of the event, the government was forced to arrest the mob, but Gandhi refused to press charges on them. Soon Gandhi gained public admiration and more support. His attackers also offered a public apology.
  • Asian Population Registration Act

    The South African colonial government (run by British rule) established the "Asian Population Registration Act". where all Asian countries must put their personal information & their finger prints on a card.
  • Protest!

    Gandhi & 2000 other individuals burned their cards in protest. Even though Gandhi and other leaders were imprisoned for 6 years of protest, more rallies kept growing.

    The Asian Population Registration Act is at an end.
  • Act

    The British government establishes the Rowlatt Act, which gives authority & power to arrest people and keep them in prison without any trial if they're suspected with terrorism.

    The Indian National Congress starts the Hartal Movement where thousands of Indians stopped buying British products in protest. As a result, violent riots also occur, and 379 Indians were killed.
  • Salt Act

    The British passes the Salt Act which makes it illegal for Indians to make their own salt. As a protest, Gandhi walks for 320km to Dandi to make his own salt. He was imprisoned once again.
  • Independance

    India becomes an independent nation.
  • Death of a Hero

    Mahatma Gandhi is killed by a member of a Hindu organization, angered by Gandhi's peacemaking efforts.
