  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was signed. This freed the 13 colonies from the British government. The Declaration of Independence also stated that the authority to govern belonged to the people and not the king. The Declaration of Independence also states that the governments job is to protect the inalienable rights of the people which include Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was the acquisition of the territory of Louisiana by the United States from France in 1803. Thomas Jefferson bought the land for 15 million dollars with every acre being 3 cents. The United States doubled in size and it would help the economy to own the Mississippi River.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    On the 14th of May, 1804, Lewis and Clark set out for their journey for the west. Lewis and Clark were supposed to find a body of water that leads from the east all the way to the western body of water (the Pacific Ocean). But instead, they were able to map the western region of the nation and find different species of wild animals and plants. They were also able to befriend the Native Americans and a girl named Sacagawea went with them and helped them on their journey.

    The battle of the Alamo was fought between the Republic of Texas and Mexico from February 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836. It took place at a fort in San Antonio, Texas called the Alamo. The Mexicans won the battle, killing all of the Texan soldiers inside the fort.

    In July of 1846, a group of American pioneers migrated to California in a wagon train from the Midwest. They then had to spend the winter of 1846–1847 snowbound in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. They even got so hungry and cold that it led to cannibalism.

    The California gold rush began on January 24, 1848, when gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill in Coloma, California. The news of gold brought nearly 300,000 people to California from the rest of the United States and other countries like Mexico, Ireland, Europe, and China.
  • The attacks of September 11th, 2001.

    The attacks of September 11th, 2001.
    On September 11th, 2001, the World Trade Center in New York was hit by a plane hijacked by terrorists. The hijackers suicide bombed the building by crashing a plane into the World Trade Center. They hijacked a total of four planes. 2 planes crashed into the North and South tower, 1 hit the Pentagon, and the final one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania which was targeted for the White House. The entire part of New York was filled with smoke and a total of 2,996 people died on this day.
