    Spain Ceded Florida
    After decades of staked claims between Spain and Britain, Spain ceded Florida to the United States on February 22, 1819. It was organized as a terrority until 1845 when Florida joined the Union as a slave state.

  • Annexation of Texas

    Annexation of Texas
    Texas successfully gained its independence against Mexico in 1836. Action concerning the annexation did not begiin until 1844 under the presidency of John Tyler. Under the terms of the treaty, Mexico ceded to the United States approximately 55% of its prewar territory. As a result, tension was created between the two countries.

  • Treaty of Guadalupe-Hildago

    Treaty of Guadalupe-Hildago
    This treaty ended the Mexican-American War. The United States gained what we now consider the Southwest. Mexicans living in these regions could either relocate within Mexico's new borders or become a U.S. citizen with full civil rights. 90% of these people chose to become citizens.

    9/11 is considered the worst terrorist attack against the United States. Plane hijackers crashed into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and part of Pennsylvania. The security of the United States dramatically increased as precautions were took for every little measure of action.

  • Paris Terrorism Attack

    Paris Terrorism Attack
    On November 13, 2015, three suicide bombers struck near the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, followed by suicide bombings and mass shootings at cafés, restaurants and a music venue in Paris. The attackers killed 130 people and left almos 400 injured. Hostages were taken before the terrorists engaged in a stand-off with the police. All of the tragedies that took place in the world this day united countries together to take a stand against terrorism.
