By this time many people had died from disease on both sides, the disease that was brought from the immigrants was smallpox and influenza. -

Many of the immigrants that went to Canada had come from Great Britain, Continetal Europe and East Asia. -
Treaties
From 1725-1779 the Canadian gouvernemnt negotiated treaties with the first nations. The treaties were to slowly take land and then give it to immigrants that came to Canda to make money off them. -
Famine
The irish had begun to immigrate to Canada because they had a famine of spuds and had no way of getting food and making money. -
Attraction
Canda was attractiing people for the offer they have given immigrants, Free Land. This attracted farmers for two reasons, free land and also the raising price of wheat.Canda attracted Ukraininas for similar reasons. -
Chinese immigration
The Chinses that came to Canada was mainly for the work, they would build a railway and they were paid less than a normal citizen because the immigrants were cheaper to employ. the first to appologize for the rasicim in the past was Stephen Harper. -
New location
From all over the world, people were coming to Canada for immigration. They all felt Canda was a free country that they could be safe in and wouldn't starve in. -
Encouragement
Canda was encouraging immigration from europe, they offered 160 acres of free land to the Europeans. The Europeans knew that they would get more crops and better jobs etc... -
Head Tax
Canda had set a head tax for the immigrants coming to Canda, at the beginning it started as a small price but it grew quickly. The head tax was mostly directed to the chinese becasue theyre were so many of them coming to Canada. -
Danger
When the Chinese came to Canda to work on the railroad it was a very dangerous job, every 1 mile 1 person died. -
Most foreign city
By 1911 Winnipeg was the most foreign city in all of Canada, a nickname for Winnipeg was known as the "Chicago of the north". -
Citezenship
By 1949 ish the Chinese were allowed to become citezens of Canda.
