  • Indian Removal Act

    Indian Removal Act
    The Native Indians refused to all assimilate, which the United States did not like, so they tried removal by enticement which still ultimately didn't work. In the end the Indian Removal Act was passed, forcing all the Indians to relocate to Oklahoma.
  • Trail of Tears

    Trail of Tears
    Due to the Indian Removal Act, the Trail of Tears is the path each tribe walked. It's called the Trail of Tears because of all the death that happened, about 13% of Natives died on the journey
  • Civil War

    Civil War
    The Civil War was when the United States divided into two, creating the Union and the Confederates, both sides against each other. The main cause of the war was slavery and tariffs. The Indians took the Confederacies side.
  • The Reconstruction Treaties

    The Reconstruction Treaties
    The Reconstruction Treaties did quite a few things, but one thing was stating peace and friendship between the tribes and the United States. Another thing was stating the status and freedom of slaves and african descent in the tribes.
  • Dawes Act

    Dawes Act
    This act was another attempt at assimilation in Native Americans. It provided designated land to families, offered citizenship, and land that wasn't sold to Natives got sold to settlers. However the Tribes also lost significant control of their identity and membership due to this act.
  • Oklahoma Land Rush

    Oklahoma Land Rush
    The Oklahoma Land Rush had around 2 million acres of free land that anyone could claim. African Americans also saw it as an opportunity to create a community with no racism.
  • The Indian Reorganization Act

    The Indian Reorganization Act
    This act also goes by the name of the Wheeler Howard Act and was mainly aimed to reverse certain harmful policies. This act also ended land allotment policies.
