Three former Paypal employees, Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim registered Youtube as way for people to share and enjoy the videos they created from their computors. Youtube's headquarters is in San Bruno, California -
The first YouTube video is published
The first YouTube video published, titled “Me at the zoo” is published by YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim on April 23rd, 2005. -
Youtube Beta is opened to the public
A limited Beta version of Youtube was released around May of 2005. The website garnered around 30,000 viewers/visitors a day. -
Youtube officially launches
The full version of Youtube officially launches in December of 2005. It already served more than 2 million videos each day. -
Google Inc. buys Youtube
as the original founders struggle to control the cost of growth and to commercialize the website, Youtube was sold to Google Inc. for $1.65 billion. -

Youtube introduces a mobile app version of the popular website and started making videos in 480p, only to have 720p HD content the following year..... -

YouTube continues to grow
In 2009 Youtube surpasses 1 billion videos watched per day. YouTube also introduces new features such as 720 pixels HD content, automatic subtitles, the thumbs up button and the ability to rent movies from the website. -
YouTube Live is introduced
In 2011 YouTube Live, a feature where you can live stream videos, is introduced. -
Gangnam Style “breaks” Youtube
Gangnam Style by Psy is a viral hit song that surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube. This made YouTube change the way it counts the views for content, the longer the content and the more viewers watch it, the better the ranking will be for the video. YouTube also improved the algorithm for giving viewers suggested videos for a better ranking setup. -
More and more content is being created
Top 10 lists and video compilations become a hit on YouTube. Gaming videos was also on the rise, with legendary YouTuber Pewdiepie (Felix Kjellberg), a young gamer from Sweden, being one of the pioneers of Youtube gaming, eventually gaining over 60 million subscribers a few years later...... -

Not much has change on YouTube since 2014, the latest updates were the introduction of YouTube RED which eventually became YouTube Premium. 60 frames per second and 360° Videos were also introduced in 2014 and Susan Wojcicki becomes CEO of Google/YouTube, developing Adsense, the company’s largest source of income......
