    David Wilmot wanted a ban on slavery in all Mexican session territories, and the bill passed in the houses but not in the Senate even after the Mexican war had ended politicians argued over what to do. this created popular sovereignty or the idea of it, which gave the people their own thought about slavery, state or territory can decide about slavery. this angered people from the south, as they saw it as an attack on the south from the north.

    in the compromise of 1850, the new law stated that any free slave can be reinstated into slavery even if they have never been a slave before. this caused conflict between the north and the south because the north couldn't defend them even tho he wanted to. it took place when Calhoun and Webster were in a debate and the consequences were determined at the new law they agreed with.

    in 1854 Stephen Douglas passed a bill that let Nebraska and Kansas choose whether to be a slave state or an anti-slavery state. this occurred because Kansas was becoming a new state and they needed a place in the house to represent a slave state or n anti slave state. this act impacted history because it showed that they weren't afraid to bring violence into the debate. in the end, the government let the people vote.

    The Dred Scott case involved Scott vs Standford. Dred Scott was moved to an anti-slave state and was still held as a slave. This took place in St Luis Missouri, the debate took place because Dred Scott sued congress because he was located in an anti-slavery state and it was against the constitution to hold a slave in an anti-slave state. This impacted history because of the south and the abolitionist imposed slavery throughout the union.

    This event involves Lincoln vs. Douglas. Lincoln won the debate because he stated that Douglas had a carefree policy on slavery. Douglas wanted slaver and Lincoln opposed it. It impacted history because Abraham didn't want slavery and he won the election by winning over the north. The effect of this of the election was the start of the civil war.

    It involves a northerner that wants to fight for the slaves/try to free them. john brown attacked the federal arsenal in Harpers Ferry. he attacked the arsenal because he wanted to rally the slaves and get them guns to start a rebellion against their masters. john brown is an inspiration for the fight to end slavery. slavery ended 3 years after John Brown was killed due to the death sentence

    it involves Lincoln being elected into the presidency, Lincoln won by a long run. Even if all voters that vote against hi came together on one candidate he still would've been elected other that candidate it takes place in Congress. he ran for president and obviously he won. when Lincoln was elected president the south started to succeed and when south created their own version of a country, it started to conflict and that conflict ended on a civil war

    it involved Texas Florida Georgia Tennessee South Carolina and Kentucky. South Carolina got scared, thinking the north would take their slaves, so they were the first to secede from the nation. they only did this because they were afraid because, in reality, no one was taking their slaves. this started a conflict between the north and the south. Lincoln was elected into the presidency, South Carolina got scared and left the union.
