The Missouri compromise was made bye Henry clay in Missouri when people started to argue over admitting Missouri as a slave state. At this time Maine had applied for state hood. The compromise stated that Maine would be admitted as a free state and Missouri would be admitted as a slave state. The compromise gave freedom to all the states in the northern part of the Louisiana purchase. -

This act was passed by congress made right along with the compromise because of how many slaves where running away that where usual helped by northern people ho believe that slavery was not right . This act was passed letting small federal governments turn in runaway slaves and punish the slave and the people who helped them escape. -

Wilmots proviso was made by David wilmots to settle the disputes between the arguments on should slaves be legal in the new territory such as the Mexican cession.
