    The Missouri compromise was made bye Henry clay in Missouri when people started to argue over admitting Missouri as a slave state. At this time Maine had applied for state hood. The compromise stated that Maine would be admitted as a free state and Missouri would be admitted as a slave state. The compromise gave freedom to all the states in the northern part of the Louisiana purchase.
