  • J. Edgar Hoover becomes Head of FBI

    He was appointed by an attorney at 29 years old, and by the end of that year, Hoover was named director. He led from 1924 until 1972. This showed how important he was to the government.
  • Mein Kampf is Published

    Mein Kampf is a book that was published in 1925 and was written by Adolf Hitler. He wrote this book to explain his plans for Germany. This book was an outline of his thoughts and political plans. He soon released volume 2.
  • Stock Market Crash Begins The Great Depression

    The stock market crash was also known as "Black Thursday" and was one of the most devastating times for Americans. America lost 3 million dollars in one day and the banks were closed down due to having no money. Civilians were poor, hungry, and homeless due to the crash.
  • The Dust Bowl Begins

    The dust bowl began with a drought on the plains, making it hard for farmers to keep their topsoil healthy and put. The dust storms started at the beginning of 1931. April 14, 1935, was the worst known dust storm to this day. They named it "Black Sunday".
  • Franklin Roosevelt is Elected President (1st time)

    Roosevelt was elected in 1932 and helped the people in America through the Great Depression. He helped by reconnecting the world together through radios and speaking wisdom to everyone who needed to hear it during the hard times.
  • Adolf Hitler Becomes Chancellor of Germany

    From that moment on, Nazi Germany was off and running, and there was little Hindenburg, Von Papen, or anyone could do to stop it.
  • CCC is Created

    It is a voluntary government relief program for unemployed, unmarried men from ages 17 - 28.
  • WPA is Created

    The Works Progress Administration was made to lift people out of the deep depression. It was a program that employed 8.5 million people and spent thousands of hours on work for the community. Roads, schools, bridges, hospitals, and much more were built during its time, ending in 1943.
  • J. J. Braddock Wins Heavyweight Boxing Title

    He won the boxing title on June 13th, 1935, at the Madison Square Garden Bowl and it was a 10 to 1 score. He was working at the docs while getting into boxing matches at the same time. He did this so he could keep his kids and feed his family during the Great Depression.
  • Olympic Games in Berlin

    It was a propaganda for the Nazi government and german officers tried to make Germany a respectable member of the international community. It was held from the 1st to the 16th of August and took time during the summer.
  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht was also known as “The Night of Broken Glass” and it was a pogrom against Jews by the Nazi Party named Sturmabteilung. They say that there were 91 deaths and up. This lasted through the 9th and 10th of November in 1938.

    The movie was made based on the children's book, "Wizard of Oz." The book was written in the 1900s and when it was published as a movie, everyone was very excited. This became one of the best-selling films to see during its time period.

    When Germany invaded Poland, Russia decided to join in as well due to their issues with Poland. Due to all this, it started the beginning of World War II.

    Franklin D. Roosevelts Four Freedoms Speech was something that impacted the world in a big way. It gave people freedom of speech, religion, and from want and fear. Some phrases were taken from the Bill of Rights as well.
