Washington to stay out of other country's problems, delivered his farewell address. He was explaining that America would do well with isolation. Later, this would result in us changing their idea to Imperialism.
-
America wanted to stay independent from Brittian. So, when a British ship attacked and took our sailors as prisoners we went to war with them. This was one of the moments in our history that showed that we are not to be messed with.
-
This was still headset on isolation from other countries.
-
In order to help America establish the foundation of imperialism, we went into Japan. Commodore Perry went over to Japan and negotiated with Japan to open trade up. This showed that when America meant business we meant business.

-
America trying to show that we meant business bought Alaska. Once America bought Alaska from Russia it showed that we were taking expansion and imperialism seriously. This lead to the US overthrowing Hawaiian Monarchy.
-

-
With sugar planters in Hawaii America wanted to take full advantage. So, we overthrew the Hawaiian Monarchy which just like with Alaska showed we were able to do anything that we wanted and could pull it off. As a result, in the near future, we would annex Hawaii.
-
When we heard that the USS Maine was blown up by the Spanish we had to take action. America took action and helped the Philipines in the Spanish-American War. Unfortunately, this would lead to the Philippine-American War.
-
America after winning the Spanish-American War was cocky. This leads us to not treat the Philippines right which gets us involved in this. As a result, we won and got to build the Panama Canal.
-
China is being stubborn about trading. America decides to go in open trade up. This ends up helping the overall economy.
-
America needed the Panama Canal. This was built on land we had won form the Philippine-American war. This was a big stepping stone towards easier trade on the west coast.
-
This foreign policy helped America in two ways. First, we got to help other countries solve their problems with other countries which meant that we could have gained a couple of allies.
-
This foreign policy is basically like if you pay someone money than you can do something.
-
Basically with this, it means we only help the countries that believe the same things you do.
-
-
We entered WW1 to help our allies.
-
We rejected this cause we weren't heavily involved.
