  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was reinforced so England could get some money to pay back their debt of 130 million pounds. The Stamp Act meant that all-important documents required a stamp on them. The colonists didn't react well to this event and ended up destroying a stamp shipment when they arrived. The British ended up repealing this Act
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Three pence per pound of sugar was charged. Although it wasn't much, the tax had angered the colonists. The colonists thought that because they didn't have a say in parliament, then they shouldn't be taxed. Which started up no taxation without representation. The British were aware that the colonists were angered but it didn't really affect them until later.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was an act to try to get the colonies to help pay for the provisions for the troops. The troop's food and lodging had fallen to the colonist's responsibility. The colonists had seen it as a violation of the Bill of Rights and they questioned why a standing army was needed. The British government had circumvented the act and eventually, it expired.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Act was an act that taxed things that were imported into the colonies. The reaction from colonists was them boycotting along with the Daughters of Liberty being part of the colonists. The British government reacted by repealing the act.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre started as a small group of kids who had started throwing snowballs and slowly escalated to bigger items. Until one guard taught one boy a "lesson" by beating him up. The colonists had seen this happen and gathered in a group. Which eventually resulted in a fight. The British Government raise their guns as a defense but someone yelled fired and fired into the crowd killing 5 people.
