    Born on January 27, 1832 Lewis Carroll was the pen name of Charles L. Dodgson. The author behind “Alice Adventures in Wonderland” and "Through the Looking Glass”. Carroll excelled as a mathematician, he won academic prices. He lectured in math and was interested in poetry, writing, and photography. Carroll was a shy character but connected with children by telling stories. Alice Liddel was one of those children, she became the character in his tale “Alice Adventures in Wonderland”.

    Clara Barton educator, nurse, and founder of the American Red Cross. Born on December 25, 1821 in Oxford, Massachusetts. Barton spent her life taking care of others. Assisted in the Civil War helping wounded Union Army at the Frederiksberg, Virginia in 1862, at the Antietam battle caring for wound soldiers. She was known by her nickname “angel of the battlefield. In Europe she assisted with the International Red Cross. Upon coming back she founded the American Red Cross and became its president.

    Born in Bromley, England. Wells had a science fiction and a futuristic interest he wrote “This Time Machine”. After failing to become a draper he became a teacher where he won a scholarship from Normal School of Science. Wells continued to write three books a year like “The Island of Doctor Moreau” (1896), “The Invisible Man” (1897), and “The War of the Wolds” (1898). In 1930 Wells tackled film and travelled to Hollywood. His novel “The Shape of Things to Come” was on the big screen.

    D.W Griffith cinema director and producer born on Jan 22, 1875 in Floydsfork, Kentucky. Griffith started as an actor and playwright. In 1915, he directed, wrote, edited, and produced “Birth of a Nation” which is known for its racist context. “Birth of a Nation” conveyed a demeaning depiction of African Americans and the Ku Klux Klan were portrait as the saving revenge seekers. Great criticism and riots broke out against this movie. Griffith move on to “Intolerance” (1916), and “America” (1924).

    T.S. Elliot a poet born in St Louise, Missouri on September 26, 1888. Elliot was educated at Smith Academy in St Louise and then in Milton Academy in Massachusetts. He was a young poet who started seeing his work published. Elliot attained a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Harvard in 1906. His works included “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” in Poetry 1915. A book of poems “Prufrock and Other Observations” (1917). In 1922 Elliot published “The Wasteland” a study of postwar disillusionment.

    Walter Disney producer and entrepreneur, born on Dec 5,1901 in Hermosa Illinois. Known as a cartoon illustrator and the creator of Disneyland. Disney and his brother co-founded Walt Disney Production in 1923. His first characters was Mickey Mouse. Disney was a cartoonist at the McKinley High School he attended in Chicago. Disney had a long list of productions that captivated his audiences wanting more. One is his best productions was Mary Poppins in 1964 which was considered his legacy.
