Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment
The Scientific Revolution took place in Europe. The purpose of this event was the emergence & development of anything having to do with science like mathematics, astronomy, biology, physics and chemistry. Some important characters where: Nicolaus Copernicus who was an astronomer & wrote a book called On the Revolution of Celestial Spheres, this marked the beginning of the Scientific Revolution. Tycho Brahe was a Danish astronomer.
Galileo was the first person to study the sky with a telescope. -

Location: Europe, but mostly in France. Characters: Denis Diderot was one of the best thinkers that formed part of the enlightenment, he was a philosopher. One of his works was the Encyclopedia, his ideas helped the transformation of the idea of the human being. John Locke developed many theories like the Natural rights, he says that for the fact of being born, humans have the right of life. He also talks about the health & the property seeking. Issues of Enlightment
From tht 17th century to 18th century. New truths about the world, religion, and politics. Everything they did, needed to be tested and proved. The way of thinking of the people was completely changed. -
Sugar Act
First attempt to finance the defence of the colonies by the British Government. In order to deter smuggling and to encourage the production of British rum, taxes on molasses were dropped; a levy was placed on foreign Madeira wine and colonial exports of iron, lumber and other goods had to pass first through Britain. The Act established a Vice-Admiralty Court in Halifax, Nova Scotia to hear smuggling cases without jury and with the presumption of guilt. These measures led to widespread protest. -
Quartering Act
This act forced the colonist to provide food and shelter for British soldiers when needed. -

American Revolution
Before the revolution there were several British Colonies in America. There were 13 colonies which ended up rebelling: Delaware, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Hampshire, New York & Rhode Island. First there were protests and arguments. Then some small skirmishes between colonists and British army. Things just got worse over the course of years until the colonies and Great Britain were at war. -

King George III: ruled Great Britain before, during, and after the American Revolution; declared the colonists in rebellion. Patrick Henry: strongly protested the Stamp Act; representative from Virginia; said "Give me liberty or give me death!" in an important speech. George Washington: leader of the American army during the Revolutionary War; represented Virginia in the First and Second Continental Congress; 1st U.S. President. -
Boston Massacre
An angry mob of colonist confronts British soldiers in Boston. Five colonists are killed. -

Maximilien Robespierre implanted “The Government of Terror”. During revolution he worked in the National Constituent Assembly. Louis XVI was King during part of the French Revolution. Because of him, France was in crisis and they run out of food. This was caused because of his wrong way of government. Marie Antoniette was Louis XVI wife. During this events she was accused of betrayal. She was very corrupt and used the money for parties, which made French citizens declare against the government. -

Europe, France but he but he had taken control of Belgium,Netherland, etc. Some important characters on this events are George III: The king of the United Kingdom who reigned from 1760-1820. Horatio Nelson who was a British Officer in the Royal Navy mostly known for strategy and unconventional tactics as well as his heroics during the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon Bonaparte a native Corsican who became emperor of French, King of Italy and protector of the confederation. -
