Historical Timeline

  • Great Depression

    Great Depression
    It caused schools to close, and losing a chance of a education. Even though back then, they had different choices for school. When the market crashed, schools in smaller area or poorer areas closed for families that needed their kids to find jobs. With the kids finding jobs, they had no chance of a education since they needed money. This lead to many kids working jobs they didn't want and losing a chance of finding a better job.
  • World War II

    World War II
    With the change in technology for fighting. The students will have to learn how to work technology. They also put a focus on science, because of the making of the nuclear bomb.
  • Brown v Board of Education

    Brown v Board of Education
    It played a big part of the way schools look today. There are schools that have mixed race classrooms, and schools that still deal with the segregation. It has changed education by giving everyone a fair chance at a education. The segregation deals with the families of a social status. Rich live with rich and poor live with poor.
  • Spudnik

    Spudnik
    When the United States lost the race to space, there was a pressure from the government. The pressure came for the students to be good at science and math, and any subject that could help with the country beat Russia to the moon.
  • No-child left behind

    No-child left behind
    This gave every student that had a disability a chance at a normal education. For students with the disability, this was a blessing because they weren't written off as no chance of a normal life. For the students with no disability, they were forced to learn at a slower place and could cause them to loose interest in school. There are two sides of this, and they have impacted everyone that goes through the education system.
