Russo-Japanese War
The Russo-japanese war was a war between the Russians and the japanese. It was developed by rivalry between the 2 countries or dominance over Korea. This was a very important event in history because the history between Russia and Japan was never the same. The war ended on the 5th of September, 1905. -
Plastic is invented
A plastic is a material that can change its shape, so many things can be made of plastic. There are many types of plastic. People experimented with plastics based on natural polymers for a very long time. Alexander Parkes, an English inventor (1813-1890), created the earliest form of plastic in 1855. It was hard but flexible and transparent. Plastic is important because most of the things people use today are made of plastic, without it the world would exsist without a lot of things. -
Begginning of World War 1
The cause was the assasination of the archduke of Austria- Hungary. A serberian Nationalist called black hand propelled the major European military powers towards war.As the war progressed, further acts of aggression drew other countries, including the United States, into the conflict. Many others, including Australia, India and most African colonies, fought at the behest of their imperial rulers. This was important becuase it was the first War involving so many countries. -
The Traffic Light
it was invented to stop the chaos going on in the streets during that time because of increase of motor vehicles.The more of the motor vehicles there were the more accidents were caused.As Christopher Finch writes in his “Highways to Heaven: The AUTO Biography of America” (1992), the first traffic island was put into use in San Francisco, California in 1907; left-hand drive became standard in American cars in 1908; the first center painted dividing line appeared in 1911, in Michigan. -
Mahatma Gandhi Satyagraha
Satyagraha is the idea of nonviolent resistance (fighting with peace) started by Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi used satyagraha in the Indian independence movement and also during his earlier struggle in South Africa. Satyagraha helped shape Nelson Mandela's struggle in South Africa under apartheid, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s campaigns during the civil rights movement in the United States, and many other similar movements. Someone who does satyagraha is a satyagrahi. -
The great deppression
The Great Depression was the great economic crisis that started after the U.S. stock market crash in 1929.The prices on the Wall Street stock market fell a lot from October 24 to October 29, 1929. Many people lost their jobs.By 1932, 25–30% of people lost their jobs.They became homeless and poor. -
Salt March
The much-publicized, 24-day, 240-mile Salt March began on March 12, 1930, when 61-year-old Mohandas Gandhi led an ever-growing group of followers from the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to the Arabian Sea at Dandi, India. When he arrived, Gandhi reached down and scooped up a lump of salt and held it high. Without this event, the freedom for an Indian to sell salt from the sea without paying a salt tax to the government. -
The Cold War
The Cold War (1948 - 1990) was the tense relationship between the United States (and its allies), and the Soviet Union (the USSR and its allies) between the end of World War II and the demise of the Soviet Union. This was an important event in history because it affected other countries like France, New Zealand, Australia, West Germany, Canada, and the Netherlands. -
The Chinese Revolution
The Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong, had declared the creation of the PRC(People's Republic of China). The anouncement caused civil wars between the chinese communist party and the nationalist party. This war broke out right after WW2. The “fall” of mainland China to communism in 1949 led the United States to suspend diplomatic ties with the PRC for decades. This was important in history because of its major impacts on China, Hong Kong, and even the US. -
First Moon Landing
This year NASA has celebrated their 46th aniversary of the first moon landing. The rockets name was the Apollo 11. Neil Armstrong was the first human to walk on the moon. This event is very important during the 20th century because it was a great achievement for mankind and NASA. This event inspired many and impacted the view of the world. This event was a big deal in the new space age. After this event, there was research and a lot of other achievements about space followed.
