the Jews in Czortkow are confined to a ghetto a series of streets and buildings where Jews must have proper papers to leave the ghetto. -

the first "action" comes. For Germans it means a day set aside for rounding up huge numbers of Jews and sending them by train to the concentration camps. lola, her mother, and her grandmother hide in a narrow space between a storage area wall and a wall of another apartment building next door. -
a morning in mid March 1944
anna comes and says there free fom the hole thyve been in for 9 months -
March 21 1943
today is Purim a Jewish holiday. Lola mother, a cousin, and two other women were killed by a German soldier Kurt Koller enchanting revenge for another german soldier going into his territory and killing three of his jews -

a few months after lolas mother being killed bacha takes lola aside right before bed explaining she will be seeking out of the ghetto that night babcha does not go with lola tekla picks lola up at the bridge -
summer 1943
a couple of monthus after lola got home a man and a woman come to her room where lola was and lola prtends shes a deaf mute the son in law says the next day he is taking lola to the gestopo withch is the athoritys and tekla takes lola in the middle of the night to a hidden hole where three other ppl are -
January 1944
just after the new year of 1944 anna tells lola that the germans are losing and retreating -
March 1944
lola and the others are still in the hole but they here gunfire and tanks and this time its good for lola and all other jews -
march 25-26 1944
Germans come back to the town to try and get it back from the Russians -
April 4 1944
lola is 9 1/2 years old and was found by one of her dads freaind who is a ruissn soilder and helped her get to dzymalow. -
April 10 1944
Lola has to beg for food. A Russian solder offers to take her to the orphanage in Keiv. -
D-day June 6 1944
American and British soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy France and began to push the Germans westward Russians were pushing them eastward and America thought this was the end of the war. -
April 4th 1944
rose kicks Lola out and makes her follow the crowd out of Czortkav Lola is 9 1/2 yrs old. -
