Interesting Fact: Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States during the Civil War. -

Many people were homeless and had no jobs.

Interesting Fact:During that week the total lost was $30 billion. As a result of the stock market crash many people committed suicide by jumping from windows in New York City. -

What:World War II was Britain's toughtest war.
When:WWII started on the 1st of September, 1939, when Hitlers troops entered Poland. From 1939 to 1945, the deadly conflict raged on.
Where:Battles took place in Africa, Europe and Asia.
Why:WWI was actually one of the causes of WWII.
Interesting Fact:U.S. Soldier John R. McKinney held off over 100 Japanese soldiers single-handedly in WW2. -

What:Project Mercury was the first human spaceflight program of the United States, running from 1958 through 1963.

Why: its goal was to put a man into Earth orbit and return him safely, ideally before the Soviet Union.
Interesting Fact:The Soviet Union put the first human, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, into a single orbit aboard Vostok 1 on April 12, 1961. -
