First Time at Marineland
This was the first time amusement park I went to and it has become a main part of my childhood. I developed socially because I went with my older and younger cousins. Fighting was inevitable but I learned to resolve conflicts especially because we were at a place to have fun. My emotional development was that everytime I think of family or fun, I think of the joy I had at Marineland when I was young. Even if I am feeling down, I try to think postively by remembering my memories at Marineland. -
Killed my pet fish, Beta
I decided to give my fish, Beta, a "bath". I put him in the plugged sink full of water. Unfortunately, I decided to take out the plug first. Intellectually, I learned that I had to 'think things through' before I try to do something. Emotionally, I was absolutely heartbroken because I was very attached to my pet fish and I knew that I was a murderer. Intellectually, learned the importance of thinking BEFORE I act. -
First Piano Lesson
I started to take private piano lessons. It was challenging but the lessons helped me to develop intellectually and physically. I learned to read music and to develop muscle memory such as learning to play music without looking at the keyboard. Intellectually, I learned discpline because I had to practice everyday, even if I didn't want to. However, I saw the results of my hard work because I would improve and go to the next piano grade. -
First Piano Recital
I performed a challenging song and I did very well. After the recital, I was confident with myself and it became a huge emotional milestone that also developed a part of my personality.
I loved music from that moment on. I enjoy how it can emotionally move others and myself. I never had confidence in piano playing, but this recital encouraged me to keep going. Now that I look back, I am proud of this moment because I have progressed to Grade 9 Piano. -
Started Kendo Lessons
Kendo was the first sport I ever learned. I was excited because I go to learn how to swordfight. I soon learned that the sport was very different than I thought it was. This sport is very demanding in many different ways but it contributed to my development. Physically, I had to do push-ups, running, and I had to learn how to properly. Also, Kendo is a "mind-game". It's a intellectually demanding sport, because I had to learn how to trick the opponent in order to hit them without getting hit. -
Moved Schools
Near the end of grade 3, I moved to Sandhills. This had a large impact on my emotional, social and personality development. I was immersed in a completely new school where I didn't know a single person. At first, I was very sad to leave my old friends and my best friend from my old school. Fortunately, I was able to make new friendships easily.
As a result, this change that I had to adapt to, helped form a part of my personality. I can adapt well to change and I actually embrace it too. -
First Trip to Korea
This was a time for many firsts. For the first time, I went on a plane, left my parents for a month, and visited another country(excluding U.S.)
I lived with my aunt and cousin. I learned many things but my most important development was emotional. I found out more about my culture and where my parents grew up. They must have been so nervous and worried to come to Canada but they came here to give me a better future. It made me appreciate the sacrifice my parents made for me. -
First Time on the BEHEMOTH
I was pressured, by my friends, to go on the new ride at Wonderland. As I relunctantly went onto the massive rollercoaster, I thought, "Am I really going to die?" Also, I sincerely regretted listening to my friends. As we were going to the top of the first drop,
Fortunately, I actually loved the ride. This developed me socially because learned that, my friends truly wanted me to be happy by experiencing this thrilling ride. -
Gr. 8 Graduation
I was extremely excited for the huge transition to high school. Unfortunately, I was extremely heart-broken when I found out that my best friend told me she was moving to a different high school.
When I go to university, I will keep in-touch with all my high school buddies even though we are all going to different universities and colleges. -
School Musical
I won a role as a chorus member in the school's musical, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". Intellectually, I leanred many new talents such as singing, dancing, and acting, I also met new friends and most importantly, I gained confidence in performing and in general. This experience made me more outgoing which helps me even now, to approach new students especially at school and in my church. -
Period: to
Exchange to France
I lived in France for 3 months! I also made a life-long friend, Alice, who was my exchange partner. I developed the most socially, becuase I was immersed in a new culture, language, new school and family. I am now nearly fluent, I know how rigorous European schooling is, and how awesome Alice's family is. Her house became my second home.
For the future, I hope I will visit France, Alice and her family again. -
Recieved the RCM Gr. 8 Piano Certificate
I had to take a summer crash course on theory and I prepared for months to perfect my pieces for the exam. It was extremely challenging to memorize 6 songs, scales and 4-note chords in nearly every key. Therefore, this developed my intelligence greatly. Also, this certificate made me happy because it is a physical form of all my hard work for all those years.
