Johns Hopkins was a very rich man and towards the end of his life, he left millions of dollars to help create Johns Hopkins Univeristy and Johns Hopkins Hospital. He wanted to help the segregation between the colored people because some of them weren't allowed to receive medical help.

Dr. Lawrence Wharton Jr. takes samples of Henrietta's cervical tissue and tumor. He proceeds to give the biopsy he took to Dr. George Gey and they put her cells in a culture. -
Immortal Cells Founded
Henrietta Lacks cells were taken from a physician from Johns Hopkins Hospital and was taken to George Gey's Lab. After a

Elsie was born with a disease, later on she was diagnosed with epilepsy. She was admitted to the Crownsville State hospital sometime before, the hospital was previously known as the Hospital for the Negro Insane. Although when she was admitted she was diagnosed with 'Idiocy' at first. Exact date of death is unknown. Discovery of humans having 46 chromosomes
It was first thought that humans had 48 chromosomes, it ws later discovered in Decmember of 1955 in Sweden by Tijo and Levan that the humans have 46 chromosomes not 48.

Moore v. Regents of the University of California desicion made
John Moore's doctor, David Golde, has been harvesting John's cells to make the Mo cell line, without John aware that this was happening. The cells were approximately worth $3 billion. Moore sued Golde and UCLA in 1984. Nearly 7 years after the Supreme Court of California ruled against him and his cells were not deemed his, but now Golde's. (Chapter 25)

Deborah and Rebecca meet for the first time
