    The AMA (American Medical Association) becomes more powerful and recognized around the country. AMA organization helps improve amount of physicians.
  • Beginnings of Health Care Reform

    "Reformers" argue for health insurance and it begins to gain more support. But meanwhile other interest groups undermine reform due to the U.S involvement in the war.
  • The First Health Care

    The first government issued health care is created. "Reformers", however argue the cost of the health care saying it should cover the cost of wages lost due to sickness. The higher cost causes new development especially in the upper and middle class.
  • Health Care through the Great Depression

    The Roosevelt administration urges for cheaper health care due to the Great Depression. As well as offering unemployment insurance to all those who had lost their jobs.
  • Health Care in the Government

    While President Truman was in office he offered a health care plan that would cover American Citizens but it was denounced by the AMA.
  • Attention away from Health Care

    Most of the government's attention turned away from domestic policies and over to the Korea. Therefore, no more health care was provided and people had to find private, more expensive, insurances.
  • Private Insurances Rise

    Due to the lack of attention to health care the price had doubled leaving many people to turn to private insurances. During this times there was over seven hundred insurance companies providing health insurance.
  • Nixon's Plan

    Nixon's plan for national health insurance was rejected by liberals. As well as the rising costs for health care due to rapid inflation of the economy.
  • Complaints on Insurance Companies

    People begin to complain on the way that the private insurance companies handle the claims. Saying that the fee-to-fee method to doctors was being exploited and abused.
  • Affordable Health Care for All (maybe)

    Obama signed into law the ACA (affordable care act aka ObamaCare) which provided all citizens of the United States affordable health care. But recently has been under fire of the new Trump administration as well as congress. With their many attempts to repeal the law and create a new one but in this moment of time their attempts have failed.
