    Stanley hotel officially opens in 1909 and was a success. The first customers were very wealthy. The hotel was known as one of the most fancy hotels in America because they had electric lights, phones, suite bathrooms, ect. But at the time of the opening Flora was dying and becoming blind.

    Room 217 is arguably the most famous room in the hotel as the famous writer Stephan King stayed in the room and got inspiration for the movie "the shining" This room is haunted because in 1911 a thunderstorm hit Stanley Hotel and the power went out people waited in the lobby until the storm was finished

    Elizabeth was cleaning in room 217 and didn't realize that the storm had caused a gas leak. The gas at the time didn't have a smell so she kept cleaning. Finally the gas reacted and blew up 10% of the hotel (7,000 square ft.) Elizabeth didn't die after the explosion but left with 2 broken ankles. After she died of natural causes, the room was rumored to be haunted by her

    The last most haunted room (according to the staff) is haunted by children. These children are supposedly sad and haunt the rooms and hallways. But mainly the room. A ghost that is named Lucy is the most active out of these children. She can shut doors and can knock over stuff. She is also seen in the rooms and was spotted by Stephan King; which inspired one of his characters in "The Shining."

    Room 407 is another room in the hotel that is rumored to be haunted. This room is said to be haunted by the original owner (Earl of Donraven) You can still smell his cherry tobacco and he shows up in corners of the room.

    The rooms aren't the only places that are haunted. The lobby, the billiard room, and the administration office are the main places that other ghosts are found. Stanley and Flora have been seen in the lobby at the top of the staircase and the billiard rooms. Stanley has also been spotted in the administration office by the staff and cameras. phantom hands have been reported touching people walking by the lobby and hallways.
