Dobby the House-elf visits Harry in the Privet Drive
Harry is living with his aunt, uncle and cousin, also known as the Dudleys, because his parents are dead. He is not treated well. One day when he is in his room and strictly forbidden to make any noise because his uncle has visitors, Dobby the House-elf reveals himself. He is warning Harry not to go back to Hogwarts (the wizarding school). Harry doesn't listen to Dobby, and goes to school anyway. -

The Burrow and Diagon Alley
Harry’s friend Ron and his two older brothers, Fred and George, rescue Harry from the Dudleys and take him to their home, The Burrow. Later, they are travelling to Diagon Alley where they buy everything they need for another year at Hogwarts. They meet a famous, but toady wizard, Gilderoy Lockhart who makes a big fuzz about Harry being famous. -

Travelling to Hogwarts
When travelling to Hogwarts you are supposed to walk through a solid barrier dividing platform nine and ten. But when Ron and Harry are going to walk through, it does not work. In pure panic they decide to steal Ron’s father’s enchanted car and fly it to Hogwarts. -

Gilderoy Lockhart
After finding out Gilderoy Lockhart will be the new defence-against-dark-arts teacher, Harry and Ron are attending one of his classes and they realise he is a terrible wizard. -

The voice
After having served his detention signing Lockhart’s fan mail, Harry hears a whispering voice talking about killing and wanting blood. He also realises that he is the only one who can hear the voice. -

Finding Ms. Norris
Harry, Ron and Hermione are walking home to their dormitories after having attended the death-day party of the ghost Nearly-Headless Nick. Suddenly Harry hears the same whispering voice again, and they find the caretakers cat, Ms. Norris, hanging on a wall next to a writing saying that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened. The cat has been petrified. Harry is immediately suspected. -

Quidditch match – A rogue bludger
Harry is playing a quidditch match (a wizarding sport on brooms). Suddenly a bludger (one of many balls) is aiming for him only, instead of everyone on the field. Harry ends up breaking an arm while catching the golden snitch at the same time. Lockhart tries to fix Harry’s arm, but instead ends up removing all his bones and he now has to regrow them. -

The duelling club
At the duelling club at school, Harry fights against Draco Malfoy, a mean and spoiled kid from the house Slytherin. Malfoy conjures a snake. Harry speaks to the snake in parseltongue (snake language). This is not a common gift, and people thinks he is a dark wizard. The suspicions of him being the heir of Slytherin and of him having opened the Chamber of secrets are greater than ever before. -

More victims
Harry finds even more petrified victims, while walking alone in the corridors of Hogwarts. Many are despising him now and he feels alone. -

At Dumbledore’s office
After having stumbled upon the two newly petrified victims, Harry is taken up to the headmaster’s office. Dumbledore, who is the headmaster, assures Harry that he doesn’t think Harry is the man behind the attacks. -

The Polyjuice potion
Harry, Ron and Hermione suspect Draco Malfoy of being the heir of Slytherin and decide to find out if he is. They are brewing a Polyjuice potion, and Ron and Harry transform into Malfoy’s friends Crab and Goyle. They don’t find out if Malfoy is the heir or not. -

Tom Riddle’s diary
Lying in a bathroom, Harry and Ron find an old diary. Harry keeps it and finds out the memory of a former student Tom D. Riddle lives in it. Tom shows Harry that the Chamber of Secrets had been opened before and that a student had been expelled for doing it, non-other than his friend Hagrid the gamekeeper. -

Finding Hermione petrified
Harry is going to play a quidditch match, but it is cancelled because two more victims have been petrified, and this time Hermione is one of them. This makes Ron and Harry even more eager to solve the riddle of the Chamber of Secrets. Ron’s sister Ginny has been taken inside of the chamber. -

Aragog
Hagrid has been taken to the wizard prison Azkaban. He asks Ron and Harry to take care of his pet spider "Aragog". While searching for him they are almost killed by both him and his children, but Ron’s father’s magic car saves them in the nick of time. -

The Chamber of Secrets
Ron and Harry finally solve the riddle of the Chamber of Secrets, and they go inside of it together with Gilderoy Lockhart. He regrets this and tries to erase both of the young wizards memories, but he ends up stunning himself instead. Harry gets separated from Ron and Gilderoy. -

Meeting the heir of Slytherin
Harry finds Ginny lying on the floor of the Chamber. She is nearly dead. Harry confronts the heir of Slytherin which turns out to be the memory of Tom Riddle. He turns out to be the youth version of the dark wizard Voldemort, and reveals that he was the one to open the chamber 50 years ago, not Hagrid. -

Defeating the Basilisk
Tom Riddle sends the Basilisk after Harry. The phoenix Vulcan comes to Harry’s aid and helps him defeating the Basilisk. Harry ends up killing the Basilisk with the sword of Griffindor. -

Freeing Dobby
Hermione is cured, and the mystery has been solved. The owner of Dobby turns out to be Lucius Malfoy, the father of Draco Malfoy. Harry tricks him to free Dobby. Dobby is forever grateful to Harry, and the Malfoys hates Harry even more.
