Abolitionist, Senator William H. Seward sells Harriet Tubman some land in Auburn, New York. Tubman spent many years there with fugitives, friends, and family. She also continued to house runaways. -
Harriet's Final Marriage
Harriet Tubman ends up remarrying a civil war veteran named Nelson Pavis. -
Gertie's Adoption
Later in 1874, Harriet and Nelson adopted a baby girl named Gertie. -
Donations
Harriet Tubman decided to donate some of her land to the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Auburn in order to help support the organization which was dedicated to African Americans. -
Harriet's Last Contribution
Even in Harriet's last years, while she was in pain and sick, she still managed to help others and opened a home for older African Americans called, The Harriet Tubman Home For The Aged. -
Harriet's Death
Harriet Tubman had growing head pains and died of Pneumonia. She remains a beloved and respect woman to this day.
