Mr.Auld catches Mrs.Auld teaching Frederick the alphabet and short words and forbids it from happenign any longer but Frederick finds other ways to learn

At this time in the U.S the Boston Riots occurred. The Boston riots were against the abolition of slavery and anti-slavery literature and wanted the practice of slavery to continue. -
Frederick Douglass's first attempt of escaping slavery
