    -Fugitive slaves and Native Americans fought together against the forces of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States in the first Seminole War.
    -The 49th parallel creates a border between the United States and Canada

  • Fredrick bercomes traumatized due to seeing his Aunt Heaster being whipped and beaten

    -(Feb 23rd) Boston, Massachusetts is incorporated as a city
    -(Feb 4th) Free American Blacks go back tho Africa and settle in Liberia and othe parts of West Africa
    -(May 30th) Denmark Vessey conspiracy happens and results in 37 hanged blacks. Denmark Vessey was a free black for over 20 years until he was accused of being a ringleader of "the rising" which was a major potential slave revolt in South Carolina

  • Mr.Severe is replaced by another overseer, named Mr.Hopkins. THen Mr.Hopkins is replaced by Mr.Gore, a very mean overseer

    -Georgia passes 1st US state birth registration law in US
    -Slavery is abolished in Chile
    -First normal school opens in the US. Concord Academy in COncord, Virgina

  • Demby refuses to get out of the creek, so Mr.Gore has no choice but to blow his brains out.

    -Slavery is abolished in Costa Rica
    -Freed American slaves establish Liberia on the West African coast through the American Colonization Society
    -US House of Representatives begins to decide outcome of election deadlock between John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson (Adams wins)

  • Sent to Live with the Auld family

    -Thomas Jefferson and John Adams die in the same days just 5 hours apart. Both were Presidents of the United States. Thomas Jefferson's death was unkown but John Adams death was due to illness.
    -Granite Railway which is the 1st chartered railway in US begins operations
    -Samuel Mory of the United States patents internal combustion engine

  • Ask Sofia Auld to teach him letters and short words

    -Freedom's Journal is founded. Freedom's journal was the first African American owned and operated newspaper in the United States.
    -Slavery abolished in New York
    -Threre are Race Riots in Cincinnati, resulting in 1,000 blacks leaving for Canada

  • Mr.Auld catches Mrs.Auld teaching Frederick the alphabet and short words and forbids it from happenign any longer but Frederick finds other ways to learn

  • Colonel Lloyd dies so Frederick Douglass is sent back to Maryland to determine how the property will be split.

    -The New England Anti-Slavery society organizes in Boston
    -Andrew Jackson re-elected as President
    -1st US Negro Hospital founded by whites

  • Hired Out to Edward Covey who is know as a "slave Breaker" and is supposed to break Frederick and make him accept being a slave

    -In August of 1834 slavery is abolished in the British Empire
    -At the same time in the United States the are anti-abolitionist riots were happening in New York.
    -First black to obtain a patent for a corn planter

  • Frederick Douglass is sent back to Baltimore countryside to work for Master Thomas

    -American Anti-Slavery Society formed by Arthur Tappan in Philadelphia

  • The introduction in the book of Frederick Douglass at the age of 27-28

    At this time in the U.S the Boston Riots occurred. The Boston riots were against the abolition of slavery and anti-slavery literature and wanted the practice of slavery to continue.

  • Frederick Douglass's first attempt of escaping slavery

    CHarles Dickens publishes is first novel, The Pickwick Papers. Also that year Charles Dickens got married to Catherine Hogarth and after a short honeymoon had 10 children.

  • Frederick is blamed by the other slaves for trying to escape and is sent back to Mr.Auld

  • Frederick Douglass plans out a way to escape MR.Freeland but one of the other slaves rats him out and they all get caught
