Loss of the Lincoln's Children
The Lincoln's have lost many children to illness. They had a three year old son that died of tuberculosis in 1850 and in 1862 they lost an 11 year old son. Mary was already suffering from a mental disorder and this threw her into a downward spiral. she was absolutely destroyed. Lincoln devoted hours to Mary and gave her what ever she desired this later caused them to be in major debt. B.G. -
John and Mary Surratt
John and Mary Surratt are introduced. John is a broker who is assisting Booth with funds for the assassination. Mary is assisting Booth by spying on the Union and smuggling weapons. They are both confederate sympathizers.

Lincoln's Speech
Lincoln gives a speech after the war. In his speech he discusses how hard it will be for the North to trust the South again after the war. Booth is listening to the speech, hidden among the crowd. He debated shooting Lincoln right then and there.

Partying Ends
The citizens of Washington have been still partying from Lee’s surrender. Lee’s surrenders is about 2 days old now but it may be like 2 months because events are moving so quickly. Lincoln is giving a speech at the White House and everybody wants to hear it. Thousands upon thousands make there way to the White House to hear his speech. LD -
Booth's Co-Conspirators
Booth finalized his assassination plan with his co-conspirators. He chooses Lewis Powell to kill William Seward. He then assigns David Herold to help Powell escape Washington. George Atzerodt is assigned to kill Andrew Johnson and lead all of the men back into the deep South after the murders.

Assassination location
Booth chooses the theater as the location for Lincoln’s assassination. Booth begins to plan around the theater. He wants recognition for his actions and to be comfortable where he commits the murder. He is usually in the theater due to him being a big actor, it will be easy to get in. LD -
Ulysses Grant
Grant arrives in Washington with his wife, Julia. Two days prior, Grant had left Lee at Appomattox after capturing him and ending the war. Lincoln calls for a carriage for himself and Grant to celebrate their victory. The people in Washington were impatient and excited to see Grant- the man who captured the infamous Robert E. Lee and ended the war.

Mike O’Laughlen
John Wilks Booth tries to get Mike to join him in hurting the president but Mike decides against it. Mike decides that he Santa’s to tell Grant what is gong on and how Booth is planning to harm the president but he is nervous. He makes it in the same room but he can’t get the courageous walk up to Stanton and Grant. He doesn’t want to be put in jail because of them finding out about the kidnapping. He doesn’t think anything truly bad will happen or Booth will be able to pull it off. B.G. -
Robert Lincoln
Robert is just back from war. Robert was in the room when Lee surrendered at Appomattox. Lincoln has heard the story from Grant, he loves hearing about this change in history form his son. Robert is twenty-one,with a thin mustache and a captains rank. He is still considered boyish despite his time in war. He describes the appearance of Lee and Gran. His son says it was great there. He is happy to have been part of one of the seminal moments in history. Lincoln believed peace has come. -
The Plan
During the night, Booth, David Herold, Lewis Powell, and George Atzerodt join together. They join at the Herndon House hotel in room 6. In the room, Booth breaks down and goes over the Plan. The men believe that they will be able to right the “grievous wrong”. LD -
Booth's Goodbye
John Wilkes Booth knows that he has to say goodbye to Lucy Hale because he wants to go through with his plan. He gets to her hotel and he is greeted by her servant when he does see her it is awkward because of the argument hanging between them. When Lucy and him are done having the conversation he asks her for a photograph to remember her by. This will be in his pocket for the rest of his life. B.G. -
Good Friday
It is the beginning of the day in which lincoln is assassinated. The day is slendid and sunny in the fifties. Lincoln’s White House’s open door policy is ended. Petitioners would sleep in the White House. They would be waiting for a chance to ask Lincoln for presidential favors. LD
