The Persian empire tried 3 times to conquer Greece but ultimately failed.The Persian empire wanted there revenge after the Athenians helped one of there colonies rebel against Persian rule. The first battle was the the battle of marathon the second battle was the battle of Thermopylae the last battle was the battle of Salamis. -

Golden age of Athens
Athens became very powerful and wealthy as a result of the delian league after the Persian wars. Athens economic prosperity led to the golden age of culture,art,theater, philosophy and democracy. -

peloponnesian war
Athens became too powerful as the leader of the delian league. It built a powerful navy and trading empire. Some of the city states wanted to leave the delian league which upset Athens punishes the city states by conquering them. Except Sparta who later won the war. -

Alexander the great
Alexander was a well educated and well trained as a military officer. he was tutored by the philosopher Aristotle and had gone on many military adventures with his father. Alexander conquered Greece the Persian empire,Anatolia,Egypt and India. Alexander turned back after reaching India then shortly died of malaria at the age of 33.
