Queen Elizabeth allowed Walter Raleigh to send over 100 men from England to Roanoke Island. -
"CROATAN"
They had found out that people who had settled in Roanoke had been killed by Powhatan. The word "CROATAN" was carved on a nearby tree. Nobody was there. -
Jamestown
A group of over 100 men landed on the banks of Virginia's James River. Jamestown was established America's first permanent English colony. -

The first elected assembly was established in Jamestown. -
The Pilgrims
Over 100 pilgrims who wanted to escape from the church of England sailed on the Mayflower and landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts. -
The First Thanksgiving
The pilgrims at Plymouth were losing success with the colony. Samoset and Squanto came to help the colonists.To celebrate their help, the colonist and the Native Americans had a big feast that lasted 3-5 days. -

King Charles II decided to give William Penn land in the New World that was southwest of New Jersey. Penn called the new land "Sylvania" which means woods but later called it Pennsylvania.
