  • Tax Reduction Act

    Cut corporate and individual taxes to stimulate growth. Individual income tax rates were cut by approximately 20%.
  • Voting Rights Act

    Voting Rights Act
    Ended the practice of requiring voters to pass literacy tests and permitted the federal government to monitor voter registration. It is still in effect.
  • Omnibus Housing Act

    Omnibus Housing Act
    Provided money for low-inclome housing. It aimed to provide affordable housing for Americans.
  • Higher Education Act

    Funded scholarships and low-interest loans for college students. It increased federal money given to universities, created scholarships, gave low-interest loans for students, and established a National Teachers Corps. It is still around today.
  • Wilderness Preservation Act

    Wilderness Preservation Act
    Set aside over 9 million acres for national forest lands. It also created the Nation Preservation System and is still in effect today.
  • Truth in Packaging Act

    Truth in Packaging Act
    Set standards for labeling consumer goods and required that all consumer commodities be labeled. It is still used today.
