This act outlawed discrimination in public accommodations, housing, and jobs. This also increased federal power to prosecute civil right abuses. -
24th Amendment
This abolished the poll tax in federal elections. It was necessary to take this away because most people didn't have enough money to vote, therefore the winner wasn't based off enough opinions. -
Medicare Act
This act established medicare and medicaid programs. This act is significant because its still around today and many people benefit from this, medical expenses can get pretty high and these programs help. -
Omnibus Act
This provided money for low-income housing. This helped many back in the 60's and some now. It helps with people who are in a rut. Sometimes this act is not always a good one because there are some who take advantage of it. -
Voting Rights Act
This ended the practice of requiring voters to pass literacy tests and permitted the government to monitor voter registration. This is still in effect today, They had to make this because the right votes weren't getting put in. Some people were even using dead peoples names just to vote multiple times. -
Truth is Packaging Act
This is still in affect and was to set standards for labeling consumer products. This benefited the consumers by letting us kn ow what we were eating and making the manufactures to now fix the bad things they were using.
