3 Uniform Sale of Securities Act
Starting with the Kansas Securities Act in 1911, states adopted a variety of laws to protect investors from fraud and raise capital for business. To establish a uniform system of state securities regulation, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws prepared the Uniform Sale of Securities Act. The Act was adopted in just five states and was abandoned in 1943. -

10 First Blood Bank Opens
The blood bank stored and preserved donated blood, making many medical treatments easier as doctors no longer needed donors to be present at the time of transfusion. As a result of the blood bank, the number of transfusions more than doubled at the hospital in the following year. The idea of the blood bank revolutionized medicine and helped advance modern surgery. -
11 Superman Appearance
The popular comic superhero Superman makes his first appearance during April when Action Comics #1 is published. The Action Comics #1 issue that first featured Superman is considered one of the most valuable comic books ever created and has sold for more than $3 million. The character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster in 1933 when they were teenagers and it was one of the first major superhero characters. -
12 World War 2 Began
Germany and the Soviet Union attacked Poland and Britain, France, India, Australia and new Zealand declared war on Germany on September 3rd , the United States decided to remain neutral but did begin rearming for war , which helped end the great depression. -
