On Agust 6 in 1945 the USA bomed Hiroshima and completely devistated the population by killing about 90,000-166,000 peoeple with one bomb.

The Veitnam War began in 1954 from conflicts that go back to the 1940s. It was a huge war that had a death toll of about 3 million people.
When the draft came around in the mid to late 60's my Grandpa was put into a different class of draft because he was married with children so he wasn't first up in the draft. -
My grandfathers first day of grade school was at Alexander Mitchel Elementary School.

on 1955 July 17, Disney Land was opened. This very sucssesfull park was named after a station on TV, The cost to make this park was over 17 million dollars. and was built over a 160 acre plot of land. -
This was a book almost every kid had or has read before and was a very good selling book and had a movie made after it that was made in 2003.

Grandpa joined the boy's and girl's club and went on to work there in his teens and earned $20.00 a week.

On this day my grandpa was at walker Jr. High in 8th Grade. over the loud speaker the school heard the events of the Bay of the Pigs. During this time the nation wasvery aware of the cold was and prepaired for anything. Practice Drills weredone weekly, children and staff were to hide under desks or file into designated areas at a moments notice.

The Burlin Wall was made in 1961. The East German Soldiers laid down more than 30 miles of barbed wire. East Berlin citizens were forbidden to pass into West Beriln, and kept the Germans from fleeing to the west. It was kept up for 28 years and was the most tangible symbol of the cold war.

This was a bad day for the hole nation. This was the day a person by the name of Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot and killed the president John F. Kennadey with a m91/38 bolt action rifle. He died instantly. He was killed while in a car during a parade. His wife Jackie was sitting right next to him. Thousands of people mourned over his death. -
In 1965 at the age of 16 my grandpa met my grandmother Frances Wish, she was 15 years old. He met her while he was walking his blind date up to her door step when he saw her next door, he asked, "who is that?" They were introduced, it was love at first sight, They have been together ever since.

On June, 16, 1966 he passed his drivers test, which was also his birthday. Best birthday ever!

My Grandpa was to graduate with his class this year but due to a broken thumb he was unable to complete his gym credit , he was a 1/2 credit short from graduating this year from Boys Trade and Tech School in 1967.

At the age of 19 my grandpa became a spot welder at Western Metal on 62nd and State. He Worked here for about one year.

In 1968 My Grandpa, Lani Baltutis married my Grandmother Frances (Wish) Baltutis they were 18 and 19 years old. My Grandpa had to get written permission from his parents at that time. He wasn't considered elegible to marry on his own until he was 21. Women at that time were able to marry at the age of 18 without parental consent. They were married at the Milwaukee County Court House infront of a judge.

Hired at Nordberg on Chase and Oaklahoma into the Machining Learning Program where he worked his way up in the company to become an experanced machinist. He worked here untill 1982 when huge layoffs were occuring do to tough economic times throughout the country.

Due to tough economic times,big layoffs and a large family he was lucky to find work at RexNord where he was employed for 7 years until he was called back to work at Nordberg in 1990.

Returned to Work at Nordberg, and starting all over again. He lost all of his seniority due to the layoff as many of the men returning had. However most were happy to be back.

At my Grandpa's work at Nordberg a lady offered him a chance to get his High School Ggraduation Deploma. He had to redo his entire senior year. He completed this course in just 18 weeks! This was a great day for him.

My grandpa's first grandchild was born on this day, a girl, Sabrina. She is the only girl grandchild.

My Grandpa retired this year after working for Nordberg/Metso Minerals as a machinist and in shipping in recieving for another 14 years. In his time he was also a Union Steuart, ran for Vice President, and was the Financial Secratary. In all he worked for Nordbeg/Metso Minerals for 26 years.
