Around the 60's graffiti started to become popular when people begang tagging. -
Taki 183 bacame a famous writer.
He appeared in the New York Times and bacame the first famous graffiti writer in the city. -

Throw ups became popular.
Throw ups are a quick and simple piece of art, with only a few colors. -
Mayor of NYC declared war against graffiti.
This is known as The Buff - an attempt to clear the city of graffiti, once for all. The laws against graffiti increased. -
Murals appeared
In the late 70's, it became popular for writers to fill out a whole wall with graffiti piece. -
Crews completed against each other to become king.
Groups of people helping each other, completed against other groups by doing murals as good as possible, sometime with doing "married couple". -

Because of The Buff it became difficult for writers to find places were they could paint and write. -

Toys ruined old work.
As graffiti became more popular, the newer artists, the "toys", started writing across old writers' pieces.
