Gabrielle Douglas was born in Virginia

Gabby began her first gymnastics lesson in October of 2002 at the age of 6. She went to a gym called Gymstrada.

In the same fall as she started gymnastics, Gabby took a spot in the TOPs program that is affiliated with the USAG (USA Gymnastics).

Gabby began competing level 4 gymnastics in the junior olympics.

In 2004, just 2 years after Gabby began gymnastics, she was named the Virginia State Champion.

Gabby competed at the Junior National Championships in 2008 and competed as a level 10 gymnast.

In 2012 Gabby was named to the US National Gymnastics Team.

Later in 2010 after Gabby was named to be on the National Team, she was kicked off after a mistake at a meet in Italy.

Gabby moves to Iowa with a host family to train with Laing Chow.

By 2011 Gabby was back on the World's Championship team and went on to win the team gold.

In August of 2012 Gabby Douglas made her dream of going to the Olympics. She took the gold all around medal and the USA won the team gold.
