    The Magna Carta was a charter by King John of England. The sole purpose of the document was to create peace between the king and the rebel group.
  • Jamestown Settled

    Jamestown Settled
    This was first settled by Britain in1607. James Fort" on May 4, 1607. It was later named James Fort and considered permanent after brief abandonment in 1610, it followed several earlier failed attempts, including the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Jamestown served as the capital of the colony for 83 years, from 1616 until 1699.
  • Mayflower Compact Written

    Mayflower Compact Written
    It was the first governering document of Plymouth. It was written by separatist Congregationalists who called themselves "Saints". Later they were referred to as Pilgrims or Pilgrim Fathers. They were fleeing from religious persecution by King James of England. They traveled aboard the Mayflower in 1620 along with adventurers, tradesmen, and servants, most of whom were referred to by the Separatists as "Strangers".

    This was an act created by British Parliment that imposed direct tax on the colonies that required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London, carrying an embossed revenue stamp. Printed materials included legal documents, magazines, playing cards, newspapers and many other types of paper used throughout the colonies.

    Boston Massacre
    This was an incident in which British soldiers kill 5 American prostetors. The soldiers were posted in Boston to enforce the Parliamentary legislation. Many civillians gathered around and began to protest the unpopular policy with verbal and physical abuse. Which lead to the soldiers defending themselves. The event was heavily propagandized by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams to fuel rebellion towards the British.

    This was an act of political protest in Boston. It was carried out by the Sons of Liberty whom they dumped barrels of tea from British trade ships into the port.

    This was a meeting of 12 delegates from all thirteen colonies in America. They met at Carpenter's Hall in Philidelphia. The reason for the meeting was to discuss the passing of Coercive Acts from British Parliment. This Act was set due to the Boston Tea Party.

    Intolerable Acts
    This was a term used by the American Patriots for a series of laws passed by British Parliment after the Boston Tea Party. They were meant to punish Massachusetts residenta for their defiance for throwing large shipments of tea into the Boston harbor. In Great Britain, these laws were referred to as the Coercive Acts.

    This was a protest named after revoluitonary was veteran Daniel Shay, leader of the rebellion. The protest was stirred up in Massachusetts due to economic injustices and suspension of civil rights in the state, The rebellion was quelled by a secret miltia from the government. This lead to an increase in national security.
