    I was born in Jaingxi Provence in China. If I wasn't born, I wouldn't be here today.

    Adoption
    My birth parents decided to give me up for adoption. I was adopted, and then was brought to America. If I didn't get adopted, I may have still been in China, or I may have still been an orphan. Most definetly, I would not have the life I have now.

    Bush v. Gore
    The court case between Bush and Gore was the climax of the 2000 presidential elections. In a 5-4 "per curiam" decision, the Florida manual ballot recount was deemed unconstitutional. The court decided that it violated the 14th amendment's Equal Protection Clause. Because of this Bush won and became president. If the court had rulled differently, there could have been a completely different U.S. future.(www.pbs.org)

    Terrorists took over planes and then crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.The towers collapsed killing about 3,000 people. The attack on the towers was the most serious attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. Everyone old enough to remember 9/11, remembers where they were exactly and what they were doing and thinking. (www.history.com).

    Lawrence v. Texas
    The Lawrence v. Texas court case was a continuation of Bowers v. Hardwick. Larence and Garner were caught in Lawrences appartment having sexual intercourse. That was a violation to the Texas law stating that it is illigal to "engage in certain intimate sexual conduct" with a person of the same sex. The cournt rulled a 6-3 decision stating that the Texas law was a violation of the Due Process Clause. (www.oyez.org).

    Hurricane Katrina killed over 1,600 people over a 7 day time period. It was the one of the most deadly and costly storms to hit America. The damages costed about $100 billion. Most people blamed the FEMA for not taking sufficient prevention measures even though they knew that there was a great chance of great damages and danger (www.history.com).

    My brothers are twins that were adopted from Guatemala. The adoption agency told my family that if we did not adopt them, they would have been split apart. My opinion was one of the deciding factors. I said yes because I would have felt absolutely awful if they were given to different families.

    Gay couples sued for not being able to get married claiming that the ban on same-sex marriage is violating the Equal Protection Clause and the Due Process Clause in the 14th amendment. In the end, there was a 5-4 majority stating that the 14th amendment protected the right to marry whether it is to a person of the same-sex or a person of the opposite-sex.
