Document states that no citizen was above the law. The document was orginally written to solve political problems. -

Jamestown is the first home to the Virignia Colony. One of the first orgins of the United States. -
Mayflower Compact written
The Mayflower Compact was the first governing document of Plymouth Colony. It was written by Congregationalists who called themselves "Saints". The doucment was signd on the ship on November 11, 1620. -
Petition of Right
The petition was to ensure the king didn't overrule the citizen's rights. Also, said that no taxed could be raised without parliament's consent. -
English Bill of Rights
THis document splits the power; limiting the power from the queen and king, Was signed by Kind James II when he was overthorwn. -
Albany Play of Union
Suggestd by Ben Franklin, this document was made to create a unified government for the 13 colonies. At the meeting they discussed defense tactics corncerning the French and Indian War. -
Stamp Act
When British Parliament starting taxing on newspaper and legal and commercial documents. (Helped encourage the movement against the British Crown) -
Intolerable Acts
American Patriots' name for a series of punitice laws. (after the Boston Tea Party) -
Boston Massacre
This was a street fight between a patriot mob and British soldiers. Many colonists were killed. -
Boston Tea Party
This is when a group of Massachusettes colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians and got aboard three British ship. On the ships they dumped 342 cases of tea into the harbor. (18 thousand dollars worth) -
First Continental Congress
Delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies met in Philedelphia to show a formed authority to Britian. Planned a Union. (ideas of states were very different) -
American Revolution begins
"the shot heard around the world" ending the Bettle of Lexington. Where 8 lay dead and 10 wounded. -
Second Continental Congress
The Second Continetal Congress started right after the Battle of Lexington. At thhis time they were still trying to drive out the British. (meet in Philadelphia) -
Declaration of Independence
It announced that the thirteen American colonies that were at war with Great Britain were now independent states. IT was signed by 56 people some of those people including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Witherspoon, and many more. -
Shay's Rebellion
Gets its name after the leader, Daniel Shay.
This is when farmers rebelled against the state for tax collection. -
